Inline fuel pump question

Did you leave your stock pump in place and just unplug it or did you remove it and run a pickup tube to the bottom? I'm thinking of running an inline for later when I do my 383 build and am curious. Thanks

from what I understand you just put the new pump inline, kinda like supplemental to the stock one, maybe I am dead wrong, but I dunno, I am kinda wonderin the same thing, cuz I wanna do it to mine.

has anyone done this??

cmon I know someone has done this with the stock pump still in place. I would like to know what brand of inline pump you used and how easy it was to install into the existing fuel system and wire up.

THANKS FOR ANY REPLYS!

I used a Vortec 50/70 inline pump on my 89 IROC when I added the twin turbos. I use a Vortec FMU to raise the fuel pressure under boost- FP at maximum boost is 85psi (I needed high fuel pressure for the enrichment as I am running stock ECM). I plumbed the vortec pump between the stock in-tank unit and the fuel filter. Wired the inline pump to come on whenever the stock pump is running (power goes thru a relay of course). Works very well for me, except for the noise of the vortec unit. I have added extra insulation and rubber mounts, but that pump is Extremely loud (humms, moans, groans). May not bother some people though- remember with performance there is always a trade-off. I plan to install a 255lph in-tank pump in the near future, as I am un-happy with the noise.

Anyone want a good used T-Rex?

PS- 50/70 means 50gph@70psi
