removing AC & AIR can someone help?

Hey all!
well I am a hardcore performance kid with not a ton of cash. One thing I'm going to do is yank the AC as well as the SMOG pump (engine is out getting rebuilt etc. so mechanic asked if I wanted this done) so I said sure! To hell with AC and pollution controlls!
One thing though, what size belt will I now need without the two systems? and how is it routed? is this found in the tech article I'm sorry for the stupid question but I'm still learning this stuff.

Also i'm going to take the EGR walls out of the plenum, and do TB bypass when I get the car back.

Oh and how much weight will I save without AC and AIR setup (taking pump out too I believe) about 40 lbs or so ???

thanks

garett

Garret, I removed both A/C and AIR pump crup long time ago. There is so much room under the hood and car weight maybe 60-80 lbs less.

I replied to somebody about the A/C removal a while back so do a search using my name. It should give you a pretty good idea of what you need to do. I think I even listed the belt size in there.

You need to get a A/C delet pulley in place of the A/C compressor and the belt routes the same way .

PS. Do not let the RCMP catch you without the smog stuff otherwise they will make you pay. In Alberta we do not have to worry about it so I even removed my cat.

Defeniately port your plenuma dn get rid of the EGR walls.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

If you get that A/C delete pulley then you can use the tech article on this site (on the main page there is a link) to re-route your serpentine setup after removing the AIR. To do that you'll need two 1/2" NPT pipe caps to block off the check valves on your exhaust manifolds. Everything else just kinda pulls out. Don't worry about the plugs you take out, it won't throw any codes. Give us a hollar if you run into any problems. Dropping your cat is usually a good idea too since it has a better chance to get clogged without the AIR. It's not going to clog instantly or anything but there's just the higher chance.
