Code 32 on a TPI 1st start - after Dyno Don Headers Install
Hello everyone.
First of all, i have read in detail all of the Code 32 issues throughout the forum, and the commonality with this code and headers install. I was considering going down the path of changing my EGR Valve to a negative pressure EGR - thinking that the greater flow from the headers reduced the vacuum to the EGR causing it to fail. An email with Dyno Don - the header builder - says that he thought the Code 32 issues only affected TBI cars.
Before headers: Idled rough until it warmed up for 5 minutes. Then ran fine.
After headers, timing chain, valve stem seals: Very rough idle, won't maintain RPM, and will eventually stall. After feathering the throttle to at least get the engine warmed seems to help somewhat, but i still cannot maintain an idle.
1989 LB9 TPI - 5 Speed.
TPS sensor - brand new and dialed in to where it needs to be.
IAC device - is brand new - and clean.
New injectors Bosch III
New Halbro fuel pump.
Fuel pressure 47 without engine running. Unsure during running
All vacuum lines are new, and connected.
The EGR is new last year.
The EGR switch is original.
The EGR Solenoid is original.
New coolant temp sensor
Magnaflow Exhaust - 1 cat - also new.
Any suggestions here?
And has anyone experienced the Code 32 after Headers install on a TPI motor, and had it resolved with a negative EGR Valve?
Thanks
Eddie

Have you datalogged? Be nice to see what the sensors are saying.
Could be MAF playing tricks.
Still have original Multec injectors?
No code 32 after headers installation

Just a thought here.
I have removed the AC on the car. Do I need to change anything with the vacuum lines on an 89 TPI with an AC Delete?
I also just tested my EGR solenoid and it is testing at 27 ohms. Normal I believe is 30-50. Looking at changing that.

I resolved the code 32 issue.
This would have likely solved my issue, however I have the entire EGR system updated.
Eddie
- I updated the EGR solenoid to the 'aftermarket' solution well documented in the Forum
- I also updated the EGR Temp switch with the following Corvette unit: 212-336 AC Delco / 14087415 splicing in some more wire length to get it to fit.
