Schrader valve sealing washer TPI

3 questions related to the fuel rail valve on my 1985 TPI

I cannot find 1/8” dowty seal washer for the schrader valve (see pic) in Australia.Has anyone had long term success using alternative washes such as copper crush washer, nylon washer or red fibre washer.

Is it recommended that Teflon tape is used on the thread to assist sealing?

I dare not overtighten and strip the thread, can someone suggest an approx torque setting as a guide to how much tightening the valve/rail can safely take?

Re: Schrader valve sealing washer TPI

Do not use teflon tape on any threads that come into contact with fuel.

Re: Schrader valve sealing washer TPI

An anaerobic thread sealant may be the most positive, although if the valve is ever going to be removed the surrounding area will likely have to be heated to soften the sealant. It can be as tough as LocTite in that regard.
