If your tuning might update to $6e. 1988 is $32B if you don’t have a adx to datalog with convert an ads under acquisition.

If you’re tuning $6e seems to have better luck connecting . More maf tables for better fueling correction . But not sure what your trying to accomplish.

i have been having start stall issues for years on a cold start, i have replaced everything IAC,TPs, plugs, wires, entire distributor, fuel injectors, no vacuum leaks, egr, maf, etc. i have to rev the car up and down continuosily until the cars warm before it will run without stalling. If i rev it too hard it will backfire through intake hard. Once warmed up no stalling at all. 4 year battle nobody can figure out.

will only start and run perfect with maf unplugged, then plug back in right away and all is well. I tried three mafs including off a working car, no luck.

i want to datalog and see whats happening, BUT I also i want the ability to tune in the future when i install headers and a FIRST fuel injection intake

but i cant move forward without fixing this cold start issue.(not outside temperature dependant)

Will a $6E work instead of a $32B? I have a maf car no speed density

where can i find these files? I made an account but gearhead efi will not allow me to download them

sorry im new i know little about tuning
your help is appreciated beyond words
i love the car but several years of this im getting on my last nerves last thing i can try here no mechanics or myself can figure out the problem and nobody knows how to tune or datalig obd1 systems here in Canada where I am or anywhere that i know of

The files are on gearhead efi, $6e might help with cold start enrichment and the stall issue . Since ninth injector is deleted is there any cranking pw added or any cold start enrichment to your tune ?
might use aujl, aujm and check fan switch setting as well as vats not sure what bcc your using now.

Again sir, thank you for your time this conversation is like gold for me. I have had the same chip since i bought the car 12 years ago its never been changed or modified, its a hypertech chip worked without issues for 8 years, the last 4 have been giving me issues. I have a ninth injector yes. Im not sure what cranking pw stands for. No vats on my vehicle. What is aujl and aujm?

so i should use that $6E mask(xdf file) and that will be ok instead of the $32B? How will this mask help better? Whats the difference?

thank you

Re: Help choosing correct xdf which one Please help

The xdf is used for binary editing $32 86, $32B 87-88, $6e 89 just use whatever mask xdf for whatever bin you want to use and the corresponding adx to datalog.
if you want to view the hypercrap use $32B xdf.

is there a way to get rid of the hypercrap? If i had a stock memcal i can use $6E?

Where can i get a stock memcal or a replacement? What options do i got?

and is $6E speed density? Or can it be used for maf?

$6e is maf

https://www.ebay.com/itm/114191987209?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Il2SucFCQ4W&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=ReO7v_rJSJW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

You can use a piggyback to bypass the memcals chip. Install. New tune on it and have the memcal for limp home and cylinder select.
you can modify a memcal to accept a flash chip or uv erase what you have . Uv burners are generally more for good quality but uv erasing is a slow process. Most use 27sf512 sst eeproms.

Is that adaptor the same as whats provided in this kit? Moates apu1 autoprom is no longer available so i think this is the best option now. I apologize because being as knowledgable as you are it probably can be annoying when talking to someone thats green a noob. But im serious about doing what i can to save this car.

and if so where do i revieve a tune to load onto theSF512?

Re: Help choosing correct xdf which one Please help

You will use the adx that matches tune year.
I have the expanded xdf for $6e . I don’t know the differences in the hacks you will have to download and compare the perimeters listed to see what all the xdf can edit to know the difference. Or use TC hacked $6e

Can you provide the expanded $6E xdf?
so in other words, I should download all of those adx and if I see one that does not allow me to do something, try another type of thing? And what is the point od the Ads in that list?

Yes you can might want to solder in a dip or use a piggyback,,will need to change fan switch and disable vats

what is a dip? So you mean zif socket? Yes the hdr1 memcal adaptor is the piggyback i think you are suggesting. When you say fan switch I believe you mean the fan switch on the passenger side of block that is not ecm controlled? What temp activation would be required?

A dip socket makes a better connection than a zif long term.
fan switch check in tc or tp the a/c pressure switch type n/o or n/c

I received my OBD1 burner from TUNERCAT, since MOATES is not available anymore. I have been able to log data and saved some logs with maf plugged in (car runs terrible stalls) and Maf unplugged ( Car runs great). I have used your expanded xdf, and converted adx, along with a AUJM Bin and I removed Vats and changed fan switch as directed. When i go to burn SF512 chip I get erase succeeded. Blank check....Chip not blank. And it just doesnt make sense. The chip is is the burner correctly notch towards handle with 2 spaces available towards handle. I am lost here.....
