Need some help switching from 85 MAF to MAP
Need some help switching from 85 MAF to MAP
Im getting ready to put my 406 in my car, and it was recomended to switch to the MAP setup. Ive read this site http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~davis/z28/ecm_swap_730/ many many times but still cant quite figure it out. The swap says for an 86-89, ive got the slow 85 computer and wondered if it would be the same concept since ive got to change the comupter anyway. Im positive i can do the actual work it takes to rework the wiring, i just need to have it explained simpler.
Any help appritiated,
Curtis
oh ya my AIM name is Curt82 if anyone would like to help out that way.

Didn't he also do an 85 to 86-89 ECM swap first? Just take the first part (85 to 86-89) and then the 86-89 to SD and combine the two - ignoring the "intermediate step first".
If the 400 is not going to be too wild, you may find converting to just the 86-89 MAF system is adequate. I have had good luck helping a buddy with a fairly potent 383 using MAF.
The reason people go to the later MAF is the $6E (1989 MAF) is so well defined that it makes tuning much easier for MAF cars.
