Yeah it'll work just fine in your 383, with huge amounts of low end, but I'd personally go a bit bigger, your 383 will give you a big bump in low end torque from the extra stroke so you could easily move the torque curve up a few notches and still smoke the tires. The HOT cam is a good choice (and comparatively inexpensive at 175 from sdpc, or if you like the crane cams try part # 109821 which only bumps the exhaust duration up 2*, intake stays the same, but with your 1.65 rockers the lift would bump up to .537/.560. But its a little pricier. It's listed as for non-computer controlled engines, but with all the other stuff you'll need a reprogrammed prom anyway.

Hey supperrammed..Ihave almost the identical setup as you have in my 91 z..I have TPIS 's ZZX cam in my car ..It works awesome..Might be a lilttle to radical for some folks but not me..I have a 3500 Art car converter in my and the combo like i said is good..I do have a miniram so i dont have the low end that u will have, but the combo has netted me a best of 11.49 at almost 121..TPIS s ZZ9cam might also be a good choice for u..Anyways good luck

That ZZX cam is pretty damn big..... me likes, but rather $$$$ for me .... I think the LT4 HC is a dead ringer for that combo as it is fairly cheap and will work very well with that LT1 intake manifold. (I will hopefully be adding an LT1 intake to mine soon...)
