Vortec TPI conversion group purchase(whole/partial) thru Jim Pace Performance

I have been im contact with jim pace performance this week trying to set up a gp with vortec TPI pieces
I need input from everyone on what they need for their swap and/or what combinations we can do a gp on, ie: heads/LT4HOtcam/vortec tpi inate etc
SO far i am trying for a complete swap package and getting prices on the entire conversion
vortec heads(modified for 550 lift)
vortec tpi intake
LT4 Hotcam
1.6 roller rockers
intake and head gaskets
intake bolts
other misc. fasteners and gaskets needed for swap

Post your needs and what u r interested in here please
Prices will hopefully be posted t'row nite :-) when i recieve the final prices
Looks like if we have people going for the whole conversion the prices should save us a substantial amount, likewise if u are interested in heads cam intake or any other larger combination of parts needed :-)

PS This deal will have to happen between now and feb 29: as of March 1st GM releases their new price list which we have no control over and will most likely result in higher prices
thank you

interesting GP.

I might be game....

For the complete kit as described (intake/heads/cam/rockers + misc), that's gonna be pretty expensive. I might consider if the cost got below $1000...maybe....better count me out on that one to be on the safe side.

What I'd be a LOT more interested in is a short kit to just do the vortec head conversion, specifically the TPI vortec manifold, the vortec heads, and the misc. If something like that could be had for $600 as a kit, i'd be VERY interested. Not sure if the price can go that low, though....

let us know prices when you find out????

I'd be interested in the heads and base. But I won't have the $$ till end of summer, so I'll have to just try and start one then. But thank you for the time you've put in already!

I may be interested, but it will depend on the price. I'd mainly be interested in the heads and intake.

PS the more cam/intake or heads/intake setups the better as far as price so if u need any of the larger items speically the intake and cam and/or 1.6 roller rockers now would be the time :-)

You might get some more interest if you could time it to right about the time most of us get your income tax refunds.

I am STRONGLY interested in the prices for a set of Fastburn heads, Vortec TPI intake, and Hot Cam.

In Scoggin-Dickey's catalog, these are priced at just about $1,700.

Pace Parts' prices (generally) are a little higher than Scoggin-Dickey but if we could get 15-20% (or thereabout) off the price I would probably go with Pace.

In my case, money is waiting and 95% sure I will order (from someone) before the GM price increase.

WAAAAAIIIITTTTT a minute!!!

Hey guys, I love this idea to get the base and heads....they've got amazing potential. NOW LOOK! (Don't mind me, the Olympics are driving me crazy here in SLC) And I already bought the heads and base, or else I'd be in this GP instantaneously.

I think there's no way the GM Hotcam is the best match to this setup, especially with the stock TPI.

Everybody got off on that article that CHP put out with the CARBED motor, and saw that "with the Hotcam, it made over 400 hp! Oh ****, I gotta have one!" Then they put the next issue out with the SDPC base on the front cover! "Oh my ***! Let's go! It seems cheap!" (OK, so maybe that's just what I did.)

We (some of us) think that our motors will pull 400 flywheel hp @ somewhere above 4800 rpm with the hotcam and tuning with the stock long runner style TPI, and I'm sure some will.

But Scoggin' Dickey WITHOUT QUESTION has sales guys who BS you about the actual results with their car with the HOTCAM and the long runner setup. One guy told me that he swears that it has a horsepower peak at 6,000+ That the design of the Vortec heads completely re-write the physics we've learned about the long runner TPI power curve over the last 17 years! "Newsflash...they get paid to sell the base and heads." . I raise the BS flag high and mighty!

Let's see some time slips and dyno sheets with every combo tried with Vortec heads and the SDPC base. I personally want to see this setup perfectly tuned with the Lingenfelter 74211 cam with LTR's, natural and forced inducted, and the 74219 cam with a SuperRam, and some TPIS miniram and cam results too. I'll be doing the 74211 to start. Natural AND blown. And I'll post all results. I hope you all do the same!

Duh, right? We're all here to learn from eachother by results. Not talk. By the way, Do the GP for the base and iron heads. They're an excellent flowing head for being from the factory. Here's where I get this attitude from........http://www.corvetteforum.net/c4/beach_bum

Here is the deal folks , sorry for the delay i was sick on mon and aol just loves downloading excel files for me :-)

heads for .550 lift 559.90
head gaskets (2) 36.14
headbolt kit (all) 26.46
vortec tpi intake 399.99
manifold bolts (8) 6.16
intake gaskets 19.38
LT4 Hotcam 192.81
1.6 Roller rockers 300.53
frt cover(gaskets?) 13.52
runner gaskets 10.25

total 1564.10

our price w/ gp 1499.00

This looks like it will be the best deal going that we can get. Doing my own research on prices the only thing i can find cheaper on the whole list is the cam itself the rest of the prices being the same as , and the heads themselves are cheaper(for use with the hotcam). So long story short of this is something your interested in, yoru best bet is to do it now :-) As of march 1st GM does the annual price increase so it wont get any better for us

All orders are to be placed thru Jason Snyder at Jim Pace Performance 1-800-748-3791 ext 173
thank you
is ordering please post it here and/or your comments as well
I will check on individual pieces and prices for those who requested it again thank you

I hope this doesn't come across rudely, it's not meant that way..

i'm sure that i speak on behalf of everyone who expressed interest when i say that we appreciate your effort in arranging this GP, but....

that's all the deal they could give you? It sounds like pace is being stingy. I guess maybe i was expecting a great deal like the spohn/SLP thing with the headers, but still. I am suprised that they did not even give $100 off of a $1500 package. they must have really low profit margins (it's gm aftermarket stuff, i can't imagine their markup is any less than 80% though!) or $10000-$20000 doesn't interest them?

hmmm....

maybe tell them that their competitor was unwilling to work with us, and that we'd sure like to be able to say that scoggin-dickey came through when their competitors (*cough* pace *cough*) woudln't? who knows. might help.

Obviously u guys werent interested when we tried doing a gp for the vortec tpi intake thru scoggins dickey :-) they intitially told us 10+ would be 350 or so....final price ended up being 389.99 so there goes that route, be my guest if u want to try :-( Since the guy who ran the sdpc board here left them their service and gp deals to members here has really gone down the drain and doesnt look good in the future.......Dealing with jason syder at Jim Pace, at least i have found someone willing to help us put together a package and some break on the price(and yes im trying to work with him to see if there is anyway to get it done cheaper yet so dont go ballistic)
#1 problem
the vortec tpi intake is a sdpc piece not GMPP or an Edelbrock piece, edelbrock merely makes it for sdpc(who has the money tied up in it), and only those who sdpc deems appropriate can carry it and pricing is pretty much set thru sdpc
#2 problem
vortec heads honestly cant get much cheaper, there are 430 a pair assembled new ! they do not have a lot of give in the price for that reason alone, let alone when we only pay 550$ a set or so modified for 525 lift(new springs and cut down seat)

So please dont go rocking the boat and playing people against one another, its been tried and Pace is at least taking the time to try and work with us
PS sooner the better march 1st is GM price increase :-)
66$off is the best anyone has done for us so far last gp thru sdpc on the intake only saved people 10$(search for the post if u like)
later and my 2 cents(and i have been researching all avenues for this)

3.8TA,
thanks for the info. Maybe I'm just hoping to get something for "next to nothing" I only recently joined the boards and I never saw the GP through SD. Didn't know the intake was a Pace specialty. I kind of figured it was originally from SD because they have always had more info online about it (supposed dyno results, pictures, and now even the instructions, etc.) It also seems to have a regular old GM part number. I wonder if Pace picked the part #, or somehow it went through GM too?

The first big GP i saw was the spohn/slp headers GP, and was amazed at the prices. I thought all GP's would be like that!

Thanks for all your effort in this.

the prices and the phone number are listed above, but I'll copy and paste them for your convenience:

from 3.8TransAM:

heads for .550 lift 559.90
head gaskets (2) 36.14
headbolt kit (all) 26.46
vortec tpi intake 399.99
manifold bolts (8) 6.16
intake gaskets 19.38

Talked to Jason today, he said the GP fell through due to not enough interest. I went ahead and ordered anyway and he gave me a discount on the heads. So you can still get a deal even though the GP fell through. Just make sure you talk to Jason and tell him you heard about the GP.
