how often should you clean the throttle body and what are the benefits?

I just saw another post about cleaning it and I wondered what the big deal was. Just curious. Thanks guys.

I clean mine every spring, it is not a daily driver so that works out to like every 5-7000 miles. If you bypass the coolant around the throttle body, then you can take the TB off in like 5 min. Carbon builds up behind the throttle blades impeding airflow, so a cleaner TB will flow more air. Hope this helps
