just bought a new engine...what should i expect?

i just bought a 350 TPI out of a 89 Formula 350..it's totally stock...i'm matching it up to my setup...stock w/ the exception of a flowmaster cat-back...and i also got ahold of an SLP cold air induction kit.......i believe i have 2.73 gears...b/c my rpm's stay lower than anyone elses 3rd gen i know who have the 3.08s....what kind of times can i expect at the track...w/ my 305 tpi i'm hitting consistent 15.640s....??

You are going to put it in before you check to see if it is a 350?? Slow down and explain yourself.

bought it from a guy...it was in an 89 formula 350......but w/out taking the engine apart, how can i tell if it's truly a 350 unless i notice a difference in engine power from the 305 that i was running? that's my issue

Get the casting number off the block.

Some of the newer blocks even have 5.0 or 5.7 cast into the block according to what I've read on this site.

I'd run the casting number to be sure tho.

The funny thing is he is serious. Anyhow, just check the casting number like the previous guy said. If the 350 is in good shape it will crush that little 5 liter.
