best mods, which order?
best mods, which order?
There are lots of mods for our tpi cars out there. Headers, cat, cat-back, CAI, airfoil, AFPR, TB, plenum, runners, intake, cam, injectors, proms, MSD, NOS, free mods, etc. And then there's SFCs, LCAs, tires, etc, etc, etc.
Usually everyone has a price limit, so they can only get one or two mods at a time. I'm looking for suggestions from guys who have already done a lot of mods. What things were the best for the money? What order do you recommend for buying and installing these mods? Just asking for a little help from the experienced tuners. I hope this will help other beginners too. Thanks everyone.

-Brian Somewhat expensive...but definetly a good bang for your buck is headers/exhaust.
Then I would spend minimally on the little things like Air filter, air foil, maf screens removed, porting plenum, smog pump removal, air pump and related hose removal.
While your doing that you can save money for bigger and better stuff...
My$.02

I think the most important is Sub frame connectors. Its the part GM forgot to put on when it left the factory. I doubt you'd be driving your car around if you didn't have any doors, so why do it without your frame
From there its all how you want what when and where.

There is no need for a larger TB. 48 mm is good for what was the number 350 400 hp??? I forget. AFPR do the free mods, a baseplate, runners gasket match it all get rid of the peanut cam and put in a LT1 or better cam...you will get MUCH more power and not too much more money. F the airfoil too, they do nothing, my cars came with them...i guess i am just lucky.
The first 'mod' should always be a REALLY good tune up. If you car has been neglected at all you will find more power and drivablity than most of those mods, and more power from those mods when you do them. After that I agree with the other guys, I'd go exhaust, SFCs, chip, with free mods mixed in.
Get Hooker long tube headers best bang for the buck in power*. Another good thing to look at is the Energy Suspension Hyperflex kit they run about $150 and make a BIG difference in handling.
*A cam or nitrous are a great bang for the buck also but the nitrous requires other planning and spending and the cam can be challenging for a beginner.
