Cleaning, honing, porting runners?

Is there a fairly easy way to do this? I was thinking maybe some kind of a small engines cylinder hone with an extension would work? What do you think? How much can the stock runners be ported? Will they still fit the gaskets? I thought this would be a great idea for some cheap hp, but I'm not sure yet.
Thanks

When I had my stock runners I did the following. It ground the material where the runner meets the flange of the runner. Though it's probably only a 1/16th or 1/8th of an inch, I figured times that by 8 and it's probably worth something. I also opened those flanges up some to match the larger ports of the intake after I finished with those. I believe in the "every little bit helps" theory.
