Moderate Upgrades for 305 TPI?
Moderate Upgrades for 305 TPI?
I just bought an 86 Z28 with a 305 TPI. I want to rebuild and upgrade exhaust, etc... but still keep it legal. It's going to be a daily driver, so I don't need to spank everyone out there, just a few ponies... Need Ideas.... and no, I don't have my own bank.
As I'm sure you will find out, how fast you want to go is directly proportional to how much money you want to spend. Exhaust is definitely a must. If you don't want to go crazy, you could gut your air box, use some K&N's, and then possibly some runners and a manifold base. You can port the plenum by hand, and you won't need a bigger throttle body until you REALLY upgrade your motor (cam, heads, etc.). Oh yeah, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator is also a must. Take a look at old posts and the tech articles. If you have a 1/4 mile track near you, take your car the way it is now, and see how your mods improve your times. Hope this helps. Good luck.
