? about vacuum nipple under T.B
Do you have to have a vacuum line hooked up to the nipple under the TB on an 88 TPI? I have mine plugged off, and for some reason I get this feeling I shouldnt have
Any response would be greatly appreciated.

89Blue is correct. That vacuum nipple is teh source for the EGR solenoid and EVAP purge lines on most TPI engines. You might get by without the EGR, but you should still purge the EVAP canister if you don't want it ti saturate with fuel and start smelling up the neighborhood.

Ok, 89 says the exhaust gas is introduced back into the intake throught that tube. Did I read that right? Did Vader?

Wait, you people are confused.
The vacuum nipple coming off the bottom of the TB is a ported vacuum source for the EGR solenoid which controls the EGR valve. (and if vader says it also does the canister dump too, i'll take his word for it on MAF cars)
The EGR gasse come up through the intake base, through the tube in the runners, and enter the plenum through the 2 big holes behind the TB openings (behind the humps)

right Ed, I wasn't confused. Please don't group me in that catagory. I thought people were saying the recirulated exhaust was carried through that little plastic tube. And they were.
Can someone go into more detail about the gas smell, i blocked my egr when i built my motor and after a while (about 2 months) the canister was very saturated, to a point that it leaked like it was a gas tank with a hole in it. help would be apprieciated, im about to do the exact samething on my iroc

No, you cannot. The vacuum source goes to the solenoid. If you run it directly to the egr valve, you will have some truly interesting drivability problems........
The solenoid sits down on the intake, at the back between the dist, and the coil. It has a connection from the ecm (electrical) and the vacuum lines for source (from the intake) and one running to the egr valve. IF none of that stuff is there, and you are not getting any codes, don't worry about it.
The cannister purge, however, does need to be hooked up.
