Trimming gaskets to match runners...
Anyone done this? I am talking about the runner to base gaskets, 2 per side. The new gaskets allways seem to be smaller in diameter compared to the intake openings. I am doing port work and siamesing now, just thought about trimming the gaskets a bit to match the runner opening.
Any major issues stopping me?

No problems with that at all...... Just keep an eye on how much of the gasket you take off so you don't make it too small to seal. I really have to agree that the mass production process used for these intake systems resulted in some extremely poor fitting components and gaskets
..
I port matched everything on my car after I siamesed the plenum and matched everything in the intake system accordingly - TB, plenum, runners, base, and all gaskets. Some joints were fine and others needed a lot of work. Pretty much free ponies.....
I ended up using a set of Big Mouth gaskets as they have a lot more meat to play with than the OEM ones.... Plus the OEM ones have a metal inner part that is kinda a pain to trim....
Good Luck,
Matt

Thanks Matt. Since it is a dry intake system, I didn't think it would be a problem. I will try and use a good pair of dikes to trim them up a bit. I think I only need to take off about 1/16".
If I get any leaks, then a bigger set of gaskets will be ordered!
