LT1 Cam

Did a search but no luck, what do I have to do to replace my 1987 305 "penut" cam with a LT1 Cam? How do people like this swap? I don't want to spend $300 on a really good cam untill I rebuild the engine. Thanks,
Tyler

The dowel pin on the front of the cam is too long. Just tap it in till it is only sticking out about .300". If you can't tap it in far enough, then grind it down to the desired lenghth.Otherwise it's a direct swap.
