2 TPI Questions???

Which design of TPI air foil is the best, the sharp blade type like the Holley, or the smother rounded kind like the TPIS one? Or Jet or which one do I need?

Next question: Darn it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I forgot what it was sh#t!!!!

Oh well if I think of it I will post again. The first question stands though.

TPI piece is better for one because its smoother and two it doesnt just clip in it is secured into place.

But that is the issue.....Is smooth better? I'd think the aggressive one would speed up the air flow, and the Holley is also composite material so it won't heat the air as much as it goes in. Is smooth really best?

They're both worthless, so to debate which is less worthless is futile. What's nastier? Doberman sh*t or German Shepard sh*t? Who cares!? They're still both sh*t!!

TBIWorks-

I don't think either design will produce more of a difference than the other.. thus I would go with the lower priced one...

From a physics standpoint, the sharper cut will slice the air through faster, so I suppose technically, the Holley version might direct air in a little better, but not at all noticable, not at ALL..

I have the TPiS version installed, and noticed a little better idle and throttle response... worth the $40 I played for it, but it's nothin' major.

i have the TPIS one and didnt notice much, but they are supposed to make more of a difference with more of a modded engine. it probably doesnt matter which one you use, just go with the cheapest, good luck!

I don't know what brand I have (it was free) It is the kind that fits into the bellows, not a bolt in. I gained 4 hp from it on the dyno. So chances are a "poor" design will gain 3.8 hp and a good design will yeild 4.1 hp. If you can get one cheap, (Like I did ) go for it. If you plan on buying it new... save you money!!!

On aircraft, it's been found that a smooth rounded nosecone cuts air better than a sharp pointy one. This is because a long sharp pointy one will just split the air and it'll flow along the sides of the fuselage creating friction all the way. The blunt rounded nose actually channels the air in a wide arc from where it smacks into the incoming air to somewhere further back on the fuselage. So the air is actually skipping over and not touching a large part of the fuselage thereby not creating any friction and improving perceived airflow.

Now on the scale of our TPI throttle body, this difference is probably non-existant and who cares, right? But I'm on my 5th beer and feeling really chatty, so there. Now you know, right? :lala:
