88 GTA... starts hard

My 88 GTA doesn't start worth a damn. It cranks for a while, then barely, barely starts to run. The rpms don't shoot up to 2,000, then back down to 1,000 like they should. it starts real slow and barely makes it unless I feed it a little gas. No codes, and it seems to run well once it's going. Well... the first time I try to take off I usually wind up stalling it when it's cold. As soon as the clutch starts to engage it wants to die. But, after the first time, it's fine. By the time I'm at the end of my street, it's ready to go, and runs great the rest of the trip.

Any ideas?
