Hone stock runners?
Hone stock runners?
With all the controversy over which runners are the best I think I'll stick with the stock ones and buy a new base and port the plenum. I have been trying to figure out a way to make the stock runners a little better. I was wondering, What if you took a small engines cylinder hone(like for a 5 horse brigs), and tried to bore the runners out a bit? It would atleast clean out all the carbon deposits and smooth out the walls. Has anyone tried anything like this? Do you think it would help much?

On both my Vette and IROC I've opened up the tops of the runners and port matched the plenum. It may have helped a little but I don't have time slip data as I did other intake mods at the same time.
I have a set of AS&M LT runners going into the Vette soon. I would suggest them if you are going to a larger base.
Someone on this Forum has siamesed the stock base runners and that is what I am doing this week. The report was that it was worth about 20hp or so without losing any low end torque.
