cheap intake question
cheap intake question
I have been looking around alot for what cold air intake set-up would be the best for the best price. And other than the SLP one it seems like you basically have to make your own. Alot of you guys have fabricated your own with aluminum and plastic. The question I have is can you just clamp the K&N filter onto the stock tubing and have an improvement? If so what size filter would be the best to put on there and what is the part number.
I want to do something with my intake and I don't know whether to just stick one on the end, cut holes in the airbox and put a stock fitting air filter or fab up a whole cold air intake.

I made mine out of PVC and rubber hoses from LOWES. I got it for $26+change. This price does not include my K&N filter = $50
Its easy to do. Took me less than an hour, and it works really well.
1. Get parts. 3" PVC/2 rubber 90* bends/and a filter(K&N,
holley,etc)
2. Measure and cut a peice of PVC.
3. Unbolt the Charcole canister and relocate it. Take out the
brakets that the canister and filter sat on.
4. Cut a hole in the sheet metal where you want to route the
rubber tubing.
5. Stick one 90* bend on the TB achordian(sp) hose.
6. Put your PVC into that.
7. Attach the other 90* bend into the hole you cut.
8. Put the filter on the end of that.
Done.
