Ignition Timing

I have a 87 Iroc 350 TPI with several mods that include Ligenfelter Super Ram Plenum, runners and intake, Accel 300 + ignition and wires, underdrive pulleys, adjustable fuel pressure regulator (set at 48 lbs), Edelbrock headers and cat back system, and I have just gutted my cat. Great sound. Now to accommadate these mods I had to advance my timing to 14 degrees. Now there is no pinging or knocking and it seems to run smooth, but is this too advanced? Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

who told you to advance your timing to 14 degrees. that seems a bit to much, even with the mods you have. all your ods are basic bolt ons. are you using the stock cam and heads. if so then i would go no higher the 10 degrees. if you have access to a track and a timing light then your best bet is to start with the factory setting at 6 and make a pass. then try advancing the timing until no more improvment is showing. one thing to memeber is to make sure your runs are consisntant. a chassis dyno would be a better choice though. advancing your timing that much makes the engine run much hotter too. what happens to the motor if the timing is between 6 and 10
