How easy would it be to put in the gear driven speedometer gear in my trans.

How easy would it be to put in the gear driven speedometer gear in my trans.
I basicly know that its at the end of the trans and I have to just slide on a new gear but there is something that I might run into that I dont know about. Dont want to be stuck like chuck so anybody have any advice.
