Can Dextron III be used in place of Dextron II ??
I'm just wondering if Dextron III is compatable with a tranny that requires Dextron II ??

The reason I ask is because I still see some fluids that are offered in both Dextron III & II. Like Red Line they offer a III & II. Will I get better performance using the recommended II or would the III or would it even make a difference??

As explained to me -
You can use Dexron III in a car that requires Dexron II. You can actually use anything higher that what is asked for. You cannot, however use Dexron II in something that calls for Dexron III. You cannot put in something that is lower than asked for.
When I put in my new clutch, I used Dexron III. It said to use II.
Another thing, is it me or is it normal to use Automatic tranny fluid in a manual gear box???
