i talked to a guy today that has a set of 3.23s from a late 80s firebird. He claims they have around 60,000mi on them. I only have 2.73s right now. What kind of offer should I make him? Will they fit?

I think when you go past a 3.08 you need a 3 series carrier. You need to ask him for his or get a dirfferent one. I would offer him 50 bucks for it. Also you need to look at it for any cracks or chips init. Also looik whenhe takes it out( if he hasn't lready0 to see if the trans fluid is black. if it is that means he vever really changed it and he could have ragged on it a bit more than you wanted.
