stuck in first gear on new rebuilt.

I just got my transmisson rebuilt. I put the transmission in yesterday. I took it for a ride and the first couple of shifts we fine. But a few minutes later the car will stay in first gear. No shift into 2nd. Its has reverse, park, nuetral and drive, but only 1st gear in drive.I believe I have the TV cable adjusted right. I called the tranny shop and they said to make sure I didn't get the cable stuck between the bell housing. They also said crap might of got stuck in the tv valve. What do you guys think. I need help I had the car for a month and only drove it for 2 weeks. oh forgot to say its a 700r-4

check the governor, look to see if the gear is worn or broken, also check to see if it is sticking.

Your no shift conditions sounds like a stuck govenor. Its usually pretty easy get at and remove.
What you should do is drive by the Trans shop and have them take a look at it. Most shops will usually make any adjustments necessary for you free of charge if its one of thier over-the-counter rebuilds.
There are warrenty issues there, so be sure to bring it by and have them check it over.
