Speedo Gear Confusion
I changed my 2.73 rear end to a 3.42 from an 86 Firebird. The speedo gears have got to go. I have done a search and have read Omar’s excellent answer. Seek out Omar’s response if you want a good answer to speedo gears. Also, I have used the speedo calculator at 700R4.com. All these resources are telling me that I need a 15t and a 41t set of gears. However, when I called two of my local dealerships, they said I need a 7t and 19t set of gears. Which is right? Also, the ratio between the two is 3.7. (15/41=3.7 and 7/19=3.7) Can I use any set of gears as long as I keep the same 3.7 ratio?

Dude,
I think the dealer is full of shiznik!
You probably ran accross a couple of my posts and read Mr. Omars responces:rockon:. Ypu should get the grey 15 tooth drive gear (some 700r4's have them already) and the 41 tooth driven gear, I think its red.
Good luck!

SSC,
Thanks. I just wanted some kinda of confirmation. My cousin deals with the car dealerships alot. He said anytime they have exactly the same answer, they are probably just reading it off a computer and don't know what the best answer is. I would rather trust you guys and gals who have done this before.
Thanks Again.
