What scauses a clutch to not fully disengage?

What causes a clutch to not fully sdisengage. I replaced the throwout with no results. When I jack up the back and put it in gear but keep the clutch all the way down, the wheel spins if I give it gas. Its obviosly not engaging. I just broke my slave cylinder so I'm replacing that now. Any suggestions

clutch master cylinder

i had the same problem, your clutch feels spongy and sometimes you cant get it out of gear, you pump the clutch pedal a couple times lightly and it seems to work till the next time you press the clutch in?? my problem was the clutch master cylinder but first check to make sure you dont have any air in the system cause that will cause the samething too. i changed the clutch slave first no luck bleed all the air out, changed the fluid, no luck finally i changed the clutch master cylinder BINGO!!!!!

Unfortunantly thats nothing like my problem. Everything seems fine, but it wont fully disengage. Other wise if feels normal. Just when I put it in gear and have the clutch disengaged(pedal down) it grinds a little. Thanks though. I replaced the slave and the clutch, fork and pilot bearing are coming from summitt this week.

If your fork slipped out of the pin that is bolted to the bellhousing it will also do that. Get a hammer and punch it back on the roll pin if thats the case.

The fork seemed to be in position, even though there is some p-lay in it. Im replacing everything but the clutch master cylinder, and I'll replace that if it persists.

Is it a T5 or T56? Need more details, like what pressure plate, clutch disc, etc...

Usually clutch disengagement problems begin with the clutch fork. Either there's not enough throw to disengage the clutch, or not enough pressure. Throw is usually a mechanical problem, while the pressure is a hydraulics issue.

The T56 in particular can be a real bear with this. Variances in clutch disc thickness can upset the whole system.
