You can pull the pan and get abt 3-4 quarts changed. Problem is the torque converter holds 9 qts or so, plus what's in your tranny cooler, lines and passages all stays in. Suppose you could pull the pan abt 5 times and get most of the old stuff out.

I've heard of people drilling a hole in the converter to drain it, then welding it back up. I wouldn't do it though.

I took mine to a local oil change place. They hooked up a fluid exchanger machine in series with the tranny cooler lines and pumped in new fluid as the old came out. Worked well. I could see the old stuff as it came out and went into the "old" oil recovery tank. It looked a lot darker than it did on the dipstick. Cost was $60.
They pumped abt 5 gals of fluid thru the tranny. That's at least $30 worth right there. Not too bad a deal really.

When I got home, I pulled the pan and replaced the filter.

Total costs abt $80 and I'm confident its all clean in there.

That was abt 10,000 miles ago, and I haven't seen any problems yet.
