Stall convertor Question

What exactly does a stall convertor do in a automatic transmission. And why the different stall speeds?

A good torque converter is the single best ET improving mod you can do.

Rather than pretend to write an explanation for you here, it'd be both easier and better to just direct you to some great reading:

www.converter.com
www.converter.cc

Those 2 sites have FAQs and other great technical imformation to explain what a converter does, and what is the difference between stalls and such.
