you should have the 700R4, and from what i hear TransGo makes the best shift kits...as of what to do to put the shift kit in, i dont think you have to pull the tranny, but i could be mistaken.:lala:

you should have 700r4 tranny.

I put a B/M shift improver....im sure someone will say that it is not a shift kit, but I dont care, I have yet to hear why it is not actually a shift kit.

I am satisfied with what I got for 20 dollars as opposed to a 100$+ Trans go kit.

It doesent shift super hard, but it shifts a lot firmer than stock, and it is fairly easy to install...just drop the pan and follow the insturcutions.

A word of warning, be sure when you do this to fully seat the retainer ring on the pressure regulator....I didnt, had to take it all apart again.
2ndword of warning, be sure you work in a very clean place...I didnt, had to take it apart for a second time cuz I got dirt stuck in the valve body and it woundt shift below 4500rpm.

The name "shift kit" is a trademark that Trans-Go uses & protects strongly! There has been many lawsuits concerning this (Trasn-Go won them all). Anyways the B&M kit does not address the inherent problems in the 700R4 or any other transmission for that matter. They are a big believer in big 2nd gear feed holes and blocked accumulators, and when there is a vacuum modulator involved they disconnect it or block it in many cases. this should help some.

I personally am planning on the Trans-Go performance shift improvement kit #700 with a Corvette servo. I can get it installed for $250.00 CDN. I talked to the owner of the transmission shop( which was highly recommended by a local speed shop), and this is what he advised me do. I also have a LG4 305 w/700r4.He said I would be very pleased with the overall results.
Just my .02 cents...

I bought the Transgo reprogramming kit, corvette servo, 3-4 upshift sleeve, and .500 bosster valve. I've done countless "shift kits" in 350's and 400's so I thought no big deal. I read the destructions for the 700r4 and about **** myself. You will need to pull tranny because the front pump needs to be removed to see if there's a hole that will need to be plugged, and I was told by tranny guy that when you do this the clutch drums will need to be reailgned since they never seem to stay where they're supposed to. He's done countless of these Transgo kits and said on average for him it takes about 3 hours to install. He siad they're simple (to him) but time consuming-he's also very meticulous so that probably accounts for some time.

Unless you have the know-how and the facility with all the right tools, I would highly recommend that it be installed professionally. You are also covered incase something wasn't done right. If you do it yourself you only have yourself to blame and then you get to do it all over again. Atleast with a professional install, you can go back and get them to do it over. Saves alot of aggravation.
Once again, just my .02 cents...
