trans cooler on a budget?
trans cooler on a budget?
Hey guys, I need to upgrade my trans cooler (or so I am told). fully rebuilt 700R4 with transgo shift kit, corvette servo, 2400rpm stall converter. behind an l98 engine fully rebuilt with some bolt-ons.
I am a student on a budget but I don't want to wreck my investment in getting the trans. worked-over. How much will a better-than-stock cooler run me? how is the install? where is best place to order one?
the car is mainly for street and sees autocross about twice a year and drag racing twice a year....
thanks guys

Bypass the stock cooler in the rad due to all the contamination floating around in there from the dead trans....and get a good Hayden or similar cooler...something like the 24,000 lb GVW cooler.
Good luck,

Go to your local Transmission or RV Repair shop. They should be able to answer any question you have, and will have all sorts of high quality trans coolers normally used on trucks that do lots of towing.

For a budget cooler hit a local junk yard preferably a pick N pull type. Look for a newer 89+ fNord truck or van. These have the coolers that are are also sold under the B&M name but I forget who really makes them.
