OK all i have a 89 iroc with a 355tpi. My trans is a 700r4 and was rebuilt about a little over a year ago. It only has 17k on it. Well here it is i went to race at the strip last night. I launch and went into second and then the problems started. The car would not go pas 3000 rpm and wouldent shift into 3 so i went down the hole trace in 2nd. The time sex. Well later that night i went to a car show and when i left i stomped on it and i had no problem. If you have any ideas let me know. Thanks ABE

 

sounds like maybe some clutches are worn out, i never had a problem with my 700r4 auto tranny, untill i tired to get from drive to over drive, the damn tranny hanged up around 5000 and would not shift i had to left off a chit load to get it to shift. Thats all i can really say about ur problem. I would check your tranny fulid first, u might have too much or too little, check the color and smell, that will be a sign to help u diagnois the problem. Also temperature is a big part in how automatic trannies work.

It sounds like the Throttle Valve in the VB stuck. This is common and the #1 cause of failure.
