Worth it to get gears at a junkyard?
As stupid as this sounds, I am considering the thought. Instead of spending close to $200 in buying new gears, plus another 150-200 in installation, i am thinking of getting a set of gears off a junkyard car. From what I understand, they would already be shimmed, so its just a simple install, right? Is this worth the money being saved? I want to use the money for some sfcs and an slp posi unit, so if I can cut back on the money for gears, I can get them sooner. I really need to get rid of the 2.73 ratio I have now.
My Blazer needed new gears, so I went to my local salvage yard and grabbed a set for $10 since I pulled it myself. Everything worked just fine. I had a buddy of mine that works at a dealership swap them in one weekend for a 12pack of st.louis finest

I want to avoid swapping the whole rear because I was gonna look for some 3.73 gears at least, and so far, the only cars I know that came with them from factory are the 4 cyl camaros. Those rears are getting pretty close to 20 years old, while mine is just 10. I'm gonna try to research what cars came with similar gearing, but I have no idea where to start.
Ok, when I do find them, what should I look out for?
