Manually shifting and automatic transmission..
I've heard of manually shifting an automatic like a standard tranny. How is this done? Does the computer have an effect if you do this? Just curious. Also will the tranny shift quicker than just keepin it in drive and layin rubber.

How do you do it, just hold it in gear until you want to shift to the next gear. If will make your car faster if your current shift points are too early. In a third gen all the computer does is lock and unlock the torque converter--it does nothing with the shifts.

I wouldn't recommend it, you'll be in a rush and might slip into N @ WOT. Happened to me on the street, hence I have a 350 now.
