Hi,
My 700r4 has just been rebuilt and is selecting all 4 gears ok.
The lock up wasnt happening, so after checking all the wiring ie
brake switch, solenoid grounding or not, ECM, power to the solenoid, plug connections and even wiring in a fused 12v supply with a seperate flick swith, a new solenoid was fitted.
The solenoid is clicking in but it makes no difference to the revs when the car is in top gear ???
So with the solenoid working but no lock up happening, what else could it be ??

Well, what year is the tranny? If it is an early type with the L/U Valve in the VB it may not be moving. Also the O-ring on the Input Shaft could be bad or the TCC Apply Valve in the Pump could be stuck. Last but not least is a bad converter.
The tranny is an 86, which I believe is a really good year for troublesome trannys !!!
When I had the pan off to fit the new solenoid I checked the throttle valve wasnt sticking as it doesnt change gear till about 2,700 rpm. Even after the TV cable has been adjusted to the manual and then your recommendations !!
Do you think it could be a worn pressure plate in the converter or a stuck or wrongly fitted apply valve in the pump that isnt giving me lock up ????
I just need some facts before I contact the rebuilder tomorrow, as being a bodywork person as opposed to a mechanic, this isnt really my forte.
