3000 stall to much for xe268??? Need help soon.
I am looking at a Fairbanks stall converter. It is a 3000 stall unit. I have a 350 I am building that will be at 10:1 compression with the comp cams xe 268, ported heads, hooker supercomp headers and true duals powered by the computer controlled carb. I have a rebuilt 700R4 with shift kit and a 3.45 posi rear. I was wondering if this converter would work for me. The car will be mostly for streat use. It is a lock up converter so the highway should be fine. I know this is higher than I need, but it is used, and it is a 9 inch converter which I was told would be easier on the drive train. Let me have your opinions. I think it will be either this or an s-10 converter which should work fine, but doesnt have the advantages of an aftermarket converter. Thanks in advance for the help. I have already asked this once but I dont think that the subject I used caught enough interest.

i am running pretty much the same setup, i talked to dana at probuilt and comp cams today, and they both said 2600 stall, yes the 9.5 or 10in is supposed to be easier on the tranny and helps it live alot longer. can i ask why you are running a CC carb? IMO that would kill power, but thats just me

it can stall up to 3000...torque has alot to do with the stall speed. The same converter will stall different between lets say a 400ci vs a 327ci.......just a note..
Yes, I understand the principals, and I hope it doesnt stall that high on mine, but on his it flashed to 3600, although he was running 9 lbs of boost with a miniram. I dont know how much it will come down for mine. It is rated at 3000 though. I was told that what would be best for mine would be 2600-2800.
