I know this has nothing to do with drivetrain or tranny's but I was just on your website and saw your car. Excellent choice for a bracket racer.

My question is i just recently blew my 350 up at the track and am now building a 383 stroker to go in it's place. It's going to be around 10.5:1 compression and I want to know how those camel hump heads worked on yours before you blew it up. i'm putting a set of ported ones on mine as well, and I'm just wondering if they gave you sufficient top end as well as bottom or did you find they choked up the motor.

The bad news is my engine getting strapped to my existing T-5, so I think I'll be babying it.

When they were on the engine they worked fine. I was also using a TH350 with a 3800 stall converter and a 9 bolt with 3.27 gears. It ran high 11's at 117 mph with a 26" tall slick.

I have/had a lot invested in the heads. Large valves, spring pockets enlarged for bigger springs, stud bosses machined down for screw in studs, and massive amounts or porting and polishing.

As you can see on my web page I was also running a very aggressive solid lift cam, low profile open manifold and an 850 DP carb.

I had no problems on the top end except that the stock bottom end of the engine didn't like those 6800 rpm shifts.

The heads are getting ported before they go on, but that's about it. they're going to retain the stock size valves, though they now have new valves. I'm putting them on a the 383 and they're fed by a Torker II and a 750 VacSec. The cam going in has a 292 Adv. dur. at .480 lift.
I've still got my 9 bolt 3.45 rear, but my problem is the tranny. I've got the 5 speed to work with until I can find a 700R4.
Are the 700R4's strong?
How much work is it to convert from manual over to auto?

That's the easier direction. Talk to Dana at Pro Built about a 700 that can take your power. Won't be "cheap", but it'll do the job.

Transfixleo might be easier as he's on the east coast and not all the way over in California.
