new 3.73 rear end with new posi how do i break it in right????

new 3.73 rear end with new posi how do i break it in right????

ok are rearends like new engines guys?
do they have a 500 mile break in period
then i can stomp it to the floor or what?
also is it normal for my car to shift so hard at 1000prm
from park to drive to sink the *** end down about 6 inches when i shift it?

Yes you must give them between 500 to 1000 miles to establish a good wear pattern. Then you can light them up with no fears.

Axle/Gears: 3.42
Drive easy for 30 miles and stop to let the rear cool down. Don't do any extended drives... even at light load. Fresh bearings and gears throw alot of heat.

Of course alot of people will say just drive it, but take a 10 min drive and go under and see how long you can hold your hand on the cover. My bet is not too long

thanxs for the info guys im lgad i know this now so i wont screw up my rear end again
i found out they put a heavy duty rear end in it
my parents didnt tell me because they think ill race it even mopre now!
everything is 30 percent bigger and stringer in the rearend i guess is what the shop said!

30% bigger would make it a 9.75" rear. Lotsa 'Dana 60' like strength
