700R4 acting strange (stranger than usual)

Anyone have any thoughts on this. This is on an '89 IROC-Z with L03 - 700R4 combination. When I'm in OD and cruising along about 50MPH and I slam on the gas to make a pass, sometimes it downshifts great and takes right off. Then sometimes it hesitates, then goes clunk and then downshifts. Other times, it won't even kick down. Do you think maybe it's the kickdown cable or something internal to the tranny? I know the tranny fluid is full. Any thoughts on this are appreciated before I bring it to the shop?

Thanks,
Andy

My guess would be TV cable adjustment. Might want to check the tranny mount also.

Frayed Cable or even a bad mount could cause this but my first hunch is the TV Valbe inside the VB. Very common for it to stick and can cause this type complaint.
