funny shifting lever on auto 700r4

this morning when i began to drive, I put the car in reverse and it seems to went to somewhere between R and N. I pushed it up a bit and then it pop into R, same thing when I went to D, It got stuck in between Od and D, pop it up i lil and it went to Od. It feels like something is like stripped, the car drives fine, gears are changing when there suppose to, car pulls very good through all the gears. What could be causing this problem, the tranny has roughly 15-20k on it.

Please help

Sounds like you need to adjust the shift cable...it may be stretched a little or slipped.

I think if you change the topic of your post to...how to adjust shift cable, you will get more help than I can give...I'm swapping in a megashifter this week...until I do that I dont think I can help ya. I have a Chiltons but the instructions aren't real clear. Sorry

With the shifter in park, loosen the nut on the shift arm on the trans. Make sure the lever on the trans is in park. Move the cable forward or back so there is no slack & slight tension, tighten nut.
