Questions about TH-350

Hi well i just got my car back from AAMCO for a regular tranny tune up. and it went in becuz it was leakin really bad and i needed a pan gasket anyway. but after i got it back i remebered about puttin a piece of cardboard under it to look for leaks and well sure did i find a small leak. i tryed tightin the bolts a little bit but didnt really want to. but also my question is that the guy before me put one of those chrome dipsticks in and im not sure if thats where the little leak can be coming from. becu my brother is like oh those trannies are known for leaks around there. is he right or he just talkin outhis *** again. but i want no more leaks. and hopefully tomarrow after skool ill jack up the car and check all the bolts and tightin any that need it. and also clean around the spot where the dipstick connects to the tranny.

but what do u guys think. please help. thanx.

tim

the dip stick seal or o ring is hard to get leak proof, especially the o ring types. if you aren't carefull the o ring gets cut when you install it and you have a leak.

I'd get a GM dipstickand tube for a later model TH350 that uses
the sleeve type seal like the 700r-4. One from a 1983 or '84
Monte Carlo or maybe '79-'81 Camaro might be about the right length.

My o-ring dipstick tube constantly leaks. I'm about to pull it and go to the sleeve type seal as soon as I pick up another dipstick tube (small end).

I've never had any luck getting the o-ring type to seal. If the o-ring is small enough to slide into the hole, it leaks. If it's larger to help seal better , I can't get the tube in.
