28 sline axels
You can get brand new axles from Moser for not too much $$, I popped for their super duper heavy duty pieces for $285 a pair. Check out www.moserengineering.com for info.

The only 28 spline axles that will fit third gens are from 90-92 models. Look at the production numbers and you'll see that there aren't very many of them. The chances of finding a set in the junkyards is low.
www.tomsdifferentials.com sells better 28 spline axles for $125 each.

I got one 28 spline axle off of ebay for $8
I got the other from www.carpart.com or is that www.carparts.com for $35. They were both in good shape with hardly any wear. If I wasn't thinking of going with a 12 bolt down the road, I'd have sprung for the moser axles.
Whoops, it ain't either of those sites. I'll have to look when I get home.
