What's going on here???
What's going on here???
Ok, so here i am on a back road that hardly gets used......what a great spot to do a burnout...
So i put the brakes and floor the car....and to my amazement BOTH tires are smoking?? Now i own a 1992 Chevy Camaro RS with a 305 TBI.....This is supposed to NOT have a posi rear-end?
Today i tried again.....yup both tires spin, but not all the time......sometimes the righ tire will be the only one that spins...only when i attempt to do a tailwhip???
Please let me know what's going on here.....

In an open rear, the power goes to the side with the least traction. That is simply changing as your tires heat. If the traction is equal, both can spin.
Either that, or it has something to do with the crossover on your subwolfers...

Just cause its open doesn't mean you can't do a 2 wheel burn. Posi will almost always force a 2 wheel chirp as it equalizes power, but remember posi's are rated to a certain amount of friction measure in ft/lbs, you can in rare cases with high power engines, cause a posi to do a 1 wheel peel. This is where a fully locking differential is different from a posi. Hence why posi is referred to as a "Limited Slip Differential". An open diff is known as 1 wheel peel only because under full load and uneven traction, the one with the least traction will spin. If it was both even, then both would spin or both would chirp depending on the road and power from the engine. Don't assume you have a bad setup, GM made these cars quite well for the time. The LO3 is not the joke people make it out to be and when "awakened" will surprise the hell out of die hard 350/TPI die hards. My car is well on its way to being awakened, I need only cam, intake, headers and she'll be running 14's or less. There are people getting 300 ft/lbs and 300 hp out of the lo3 with simple freeing of intake and exhaust bolt on parts. a 300 hp 305 is quite the accomplishment.
