i am gonna be taking the T5 out of my mustang shortly and had a question. my cousin, see the sig, is always complaining about not having a manual. I heard from some site (i think that its this one) that the mustang T5 will work in camaros without any hastle. sure, he will have to get the flywheel, clutch, pedals and other accessories...but is it true that they are a compatable swap?

 

i'm 99.99% sure it will NOT work

the input shafts are 100% different

 

I'm pretty sure the case is completely different too. The GM T5 mounts up to the bellhousing at an angle, and the Mustang unit is straight.I don't think it's a feesable swap.

You say your cousin has a 350? Im pretty sure that they didn't put T-5s with the L98 Engines because they cannot handle the torque of them. Maybe Ford's T-5s are (Cough) stronger, but I am pretty sure that T-5's will die when linked to a 350. Just another factor to consider.

 

I have a friend running a 350 on a T-5 and it's running perfectly fine for the last year. I'm also doing this swap on Friday. As far as the Ford working in chevy no. THey mount at different angles. Sorry Charlie!
