Is There Any Difference Between An 86 / 87 700r4 ???

Is there any difference between a 86 or an 87 700r4 box ?? Like the rpm drop in lock up ??

Aside from calibration differences the '87 (and up ) have an auxillary valve body or forward accumulator same part, it softens the shift into drive.
There is no difference in rpm drop during lock up. A higher stalling torque converter may get you a greater drop but thats about it.
If your rpm drops it's usually safe to say it's locking up.
