You didn't find too much info on that because it isn't a very popular swap. Off the top of my head, the biggest problem I can think of is the bracket that the automatic cars have to mount the shifter is going to have to be welded (or bolted in) to your floorpan. You also need to make a hole for the shifter cable. Also, the hole for the shifter in the transmission tunnel is going to have to be covered somehow.

You are going to need a set of automatic pedals, obviously the tranny, torque converter, oil cooler lines, shifter, shift cable, park lock cable and tv cable. You don't need to worry about the driveshaft or toque arm, you can use the ones you have now. I don't know if the t5 uses a different crossmember than the 700r4, so you are going to need to look into that.

I would not remove the clutch master cylinder at all to avoid having any problems with a hole in your firewall. I would just disconnect the line that goes to it, and leave it in there.

As far as the electrical part goes, I don't know how you would go about hooking up a connector for the torque converter to lockup. You are going to need to run wires from your clutch safety switch to a neutral safety switch. For the reverse lights, run them up from the harness under the car to the neutral safety switch as well.

Thats all I can think of right now. Its a big project, and it is very annoying. Good luck.

I almost forgot. If you decide to do the swap and you don't have everything you need yet, shoot me an email. I just finished an auto to manual swap and I have all that crap just sitting here at my house. I need to sell it and get rid of it.

Pervert!!! Sicko!!!

But seriously, you'll need the shifter and cable, console plate, trans, dipstick + tube, flexplate + bolts, torque converter + bolts, PROM, and some means of getting the torque converter clutch (TCC) signal from the ECM to the trans.

Can't think of any unused wires from the T5 you could re-use, you'll need to add wires from the ECM to the TCC connector and route one of them via the brake pedal switch so the lock circuit gets opened when you step on the brakes.

Hey if you want maybe would could trade? I have a fully rebuilt 700R4 with a 2000Stall Corvette converter, I have all cables pedals brackets and such, I also have a brand new B&M megashifter with Race Cable. The only thing I dont have is the flex plate.

the only thing the ecm controls is the torque converter lockup, either rig up a manual switch, install a vacuum switch, it it locks in 4th with a stable vacuum signal, or dont run a lockup converter.

ok i just did the swap from a t5 to a turbo 350 and i am having trouble hooking up my shifter cable to the transmission..... how does it mount and how does the end of it connect to the transmission? Do i need to go to a junkyard and find the brackets or what? Some pictures would be very helpful.

All that because you keep ruining slave cylinders? Either figure out why you keep ruining them, or buy a different brand. I've NEVER had a problem with a slave cylinders and I'm on my 4th t5 thirdgen. 150k miles out of the first, 165k miles out of the 2nd, 140k miles out of the third, and *** knows how many miles were on the one I put into my IROC. Never one failure. Slave cylinder failure is NOT a common problem with these cars. You're either doing something wrong, or you're buying some cheap POS wal mart slave cylinder.

If you really want an automatic, then fine. But if you're going to go through all that work just because you can't fix a slave cylinder problem, I seriously think you should rethink your decision.
