10 Bolt dilema.....
Hey guys;
I have a bit of a problem... I am considering rebuilding my 10 bolt rear. I got a used on from a junkyard and it is a 3.42 open. It sucks. I have a 3.08 open in the garage with blown bearings. I would like to rebuild that one, pretty much stock with the exception of a posi unit and maybe 3.23 gears. I drive open highway alot, and do not want high rpm cruising. I would like to know if anyone knows where to get a decent posi, new or used. Also, any recomendation on the unit itself....i.e. manufacturers. Thanks in advance for the info...

P.S. Would it be better to throw in a 12 bolt? And where can I find one for that model.

If you are on a budget, forget the 12 bolt, you really don't need it with a 305. You can get an Auburn posi from Summit or Jeg's.

The only 12 bolt or 9" that will fit under a third gen is an aftermarket one. Expect to pay around $2000 for a complete bolt in diff.

SC is a bit of a hike, but I have a 2.77 9 bolt disc posi if you want it. I just pulled it last week, 60,000 miles. M/C, prop valve, and all cables included. It's an option.
