Another TV Cable Q. w/PICS

Ok, I just adjusted the TV cable exactly how it's been said to do so but It just doesn't look 100% right to me.

Look at the picture below, see the part that is circled, see how the wire sticks out just a small amount from the link? Is this correct? It was flush before the adjustment and I was having really mushy shifting so I know it needed to be adjusted and when I did it left the end of the cable like the pic below.

I just want to be 100% sure before I drive my car about 600 miles round trip to a car show. I just want to be re-assured

Thanks!

Anyone? I adjusted the TV cable exactly the same on my 91 to "test" it and my 91 is all f*cked up now! Talk about soft shifts. Here's what I'm doing:

I push the adjuster button on the TV cable and I pull back the black wire casing as much as I can, I then pull the throttle all the way open, then I let go of the button and I close the throttle.

Now should I be pushing the button while I open the throttle AND be holding back the wire casing? Or do I need to hold the button while I am closing the throttle? I don't have 3 hands so should I have someone sit inside and push the pedal while I hold the button and pull back the casing? I heard that doing that will give a false geomeric posistion and that I have to move the throttle from under the hood but I don't have 3 hands! Does this make sense?

damn dude, that cable is looser than a red light district hooker. you almost got it right though.just a little clarification . you push the Detend button in and slide the adjuster back until it stops against the bracket. when it does LET the button go. then get in the car (with the car off) and push the accelerator to the floor. you'll hear a few clicks and it will be adjusted. good luck!

To adjust the TV Cable skip the book method and do this: Press the 'D' shaped lock button on the adjuster and loosen the cable setting (The black housing that the metal cable is in will move forward). Now, have someone floor the gas pedal while you check to see if the throttle plate is open all the way. Usually they are off a little and will wiggle. Do whatever you have to do to get it open solid. Now, with the pedal still floored, press the 'D' button and pull the cable casing (the black tube) back as hard as you can (putting maximum tension on the metal cable) and release the button. You now have the engine, tranny and gas pedal all in sync at WOT. Mark the cable casing so if for some reason it gets moved you can know where to put it again. The problem with the 'self adjust method' is that it bends things and puts them permanently out of whack. It is also the full TV setting, which is theoretically what the GM method does.

Ok wait, Rancid87 says to push the button and while holding down the button to pull back the casing, then to get into the car and floor the pedal.

transfixleo says to to have someone floor the gas pedal while at the same time I am to be pushing the button and pulling back the casing while the car is WOT.

Which is correct or do they both work just the same? I'm confused transfixleo's does however say that his method will not put things out of whack like the other self adjust method.....

Well just now I did this; I pushed the button and pulled the casing back as far as I could. Then I let go of the button and from under the hood I opened the throttle all the way, the TV clicked a few times and then after I got to WOT, I closed it. I then took a test drive. It seems alot better but it still does not shift very hard. It almost feels like it mini-shifts right before it actually shifts. What do you guys think?

transfixleo do you have those instructions saved somewhere because I see that a LOT and I cant see you typing that out everytime just curious
:lala:
use transfixleo method VERY simple to do and it works PERFECT
those mini shifts before it shift is result the slack in the TV cable so there isn't enough line pressure
