do convertors have a "break in period"?

i was just wondering this because i just had one installed and its supposed to be about 1000 rpm over stock but when i drove it home it felt pretty tight almost like the stock one. and today i drive the car to work and i can feel it start to slip more than it was the other day....is this supposed to happen?

There is no break-in of a torque converter. The engine/transmission should be up to normal operating temperature to check on how the TC should feel when compared to the stock one. Depending on what you have done to the motor, what rear end gear ratio you have, how you drive, etc., will determine the stall that you are getting. If this is a reworked 12" TC, (1,000 rpm stall added) then in most cases the TC will feel slippery at light to medium throttle openings. I hope this helps?
