For my 72...TH350? TH400? Powerglide?

Ok, as most of you know, I am building the LeMans up. My concern right now is what tranny should I use. The engine is a SBC 377 (destroked 400) with aprox. 550-600 HP. The rear end is a 9-inch with 4.56 gears and a spool. What would be the best for this car. Thanks.

To get that much HP out of a 377 you should be shifting around 7500 rpm.

How much will the car weigh? If it's over 3000 pounds then go with a TH400 no matter what you intend to use it for.

If it's going to be a strip only car go with a PG. If you intend on driving on the street a well built TH350 will do but a TH400 would be better.

The car will be completely stock looking, so full interior and what not. So probably 3600 pounds. I have an extra TH400 availible too. So I will probably use that. Thanks
